Deutsche Bahn (DB) and HaCon sign contract for one of the largest RBL systems in Europe
Better connections between bus and rail with a new RBL system • First buses are already equipped
(Bremen / Berlin, 26 January 2012) The HaCon Ingenieurgesellschaft and DB Regio Bus signed a contract for RBL-Light. "RBL" stands for "computerised fleet management system", meaning more comprehensive passenger information and improved connection reliability between bus and train.
The DB-equipped bus companies aims on having the majority of its fleet equipped with AVL-Light until 2014. Each bus connected to the new system increases the quality and attractiveness of regional traffic. The more bus companies participate, the more dense is the information network and the more passengers will benefit from it. Accordingly, an extension to other traffic companies is planned. "With RBL-light modern apps come to the bus drivers which allow to identify up-to-date information on punctuality and connection status. Thus, the driver and the passengers are both well informed", says Michael Frankenberg, managing partner at HaCon."Reliable and punctual bus connections are what our customers want", comments Michael Hahn, Chairman of DB Regio Bus. "With RBL-light we are a big step closer to that goal."
With approximately 784 million passengers in 2010 and 150,000 bus services daily the Deutsche Bahn is the largest provider in German bus transportation.
22 bus companies in Germany and another 70 investments in transportation companies are also included. HaCon employs more than 150 employees from the fields of computer science and transportation planning, creates software solutions and provides consulting services. It is one of the leading European companies for planning and information systems.
